InfoGraphic: Art Of.

  1. Ridge, I think you’d agree that you struggled with this project. Not necessarily with graphic design or animation but more in terms of understanding the word ‘conventions’. It has at the very least stayed a problem from the beginning to the end of the project. To put this in simplistic terms, in its current form your film reads more as a list of ‘ways to die’ instead of ‘conventions of a crime scene’. To have made this work a successful representation of you’re your title you should have focused less on death and instead simply listed the ‘steps’ involved in solving a type of crime (scene). For example, the list of core processes that all Detective’s look at in any given situation, such as a murder, a burglary, an assault and so on. These would involve, murder weapons, motives, signs of entry, finger prints, and so on. These steps are the ‘conventions of a crime scene’. There was also an opportunity to use the same method to talk about fictional Detective’s such as Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, and Columbo. Using these would also have helped you determine a graphic style too, using time periods and character iconography to inform your work. Overall, this submission is a missed opportunity and slightly ‘off topic’ due to your unresolved confusion.
